An Official StreetSafaritm Event

The Rules

THE IMPORTANT RULE

Drive safely. Drive within your own limits, the limits of your passengers, the limits of your car, and with care and attention to other road users. We cannot stress the importance of good road behaviour enough on an event like this. Please drive carefully.

EVENT CHECK-IN

Check-In of pre-registered teams is required. A time and place will be announced prior to the event and will be held on Day 0, the day immediately preceding the first official day of the event.

Check-In will usually be held in the evening, for the convenience of teams' travel plans. Check-In schedules are posted well in advance of the event.

All members of your team must be present for the Check-In process. No picking up members along the way. Teams discovered to have taken on passengers outside the Rally will be disquaified.

Remember, this is a competition, no matter how good natured.

MOT & INSURANCE CERTIFICATES

Your MOT Certificate and Insurance Certificate are required and must be presented during Check-In for the Rally. Failure to produce your documents will result in exclusion from the Rally.

RALLY ORGANISER'S DECISION IS FINAL

No arguing.

CONDITION OF VEHICLE

The car must have a valid MOT certificate that covers it between not only the first day of the Rally but also the last day of the Rally. The car must also be able to pass any Police spot check. Although the car must be a banger, this doesn't mean it should be unfit for the road.

You may also discover, as some teams have in the past, that it is quite expensive to be cited by European police for having an unfit car.

INSURANCE

Your car and drivers must have valid car insurance to drive in the UK and Europe. Anyone discovered without insurance will be disqualified from the Rally.

DRIVING LICENSE

All drivers must have a valid UK Driving license. Anyone found driving their vehicle without a driving license will be disqualified. If you are not from the UK, you must ensure that your driving license covers you in all the countries you intend to visit.

THE CAR ITSELF

The vehicle must cost less than £100.

In the interests of safety, you can spend anything making the vehicle safe and legal.

The vehicle must also be on an M plate or older. If there is a reason for breaking this rule please contact the organiser before the event.

The vehicle must NOT have its roof removed under any circumstances. Removing the roof is unsafe, illegal and will disqualify you from the event.

BASIC SAFTEY

Please do not carry fuel in petrol cans, jerry cans, or anything able to contain a liquid. France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy & Austria have perfectly good petrol stations. If you are determined to bring extra fuel you must have a working and tested Fire Extinguisher. It is your job to check the extinguisher before you set out on the Rally.

FOREIGN COMPLIANCE

It is the responsibility of each team to know, understand, and comply with any applicable driving laws of any country they may visit.

Some countries, for instance, may require certain safety equipment to be on board. Please check our Links page for useful resources on the matter.

DISPOSING OF YOUR VEHICLE

It is your responsibilty to dispose of your car, if that is your intention, once we reach our final destination. We would encourage anyone considering this to either sell the vehicle, or find a local scrap yard in the final destination area before leaving the UK. Your car must under no circumstances be left in any airport car park.

We will comply with any information request from law enforcement with regard to abandoned vehicles.
